With the colder months here and with the economy being in the serious state it is in, you have no doubt wondered what you are going to do to make ends meet this winter.
The Coronavirus has seen many people lose their jobs and, if you are one of these people and are struggling to find another job, have you ever thought of starting your own business and working for yourself?
Here at The Overcoat Importer, we sell bales of winter coats which can then be resold at a profit. We sell a variety of bales so you can pick and choose what you would like to sell. However, most of our bales contain a good selection of high quality, gently worn coats from Europe, such as Ladies half coats, anoraks, zippers, duffle coats, parkas, all-weather coats, vintage coats, denim, military jackets, labola coats, long 3/4 and half-coats, overcoats, raincoats, imitation fur, suede and leather coats and much more!
We have branches that are conveniently located in the East of Johannesburg in Benoni, Springs, and Boksburg. Our stores all have parking (if you are arriving by car) and are also within walking distance of all the main taxi routes.
To start your coat business with our buy-a-bale, make your own cash concept the first step is to visit one of our stores or contact a sales specialist. Once inside you will be assisted by our staff so that you can start selecting the coats that you would like to resell. Our #coatbales are very reasonably-priced and most people will be able to afford to buy at least one bale of coats at first. If you have any questions or need some advice, feel free to speak to one of our friendly and informative sales people in our storesor contact them directly on WhatsApp or SMS.
If you not located in the Gauteng area and will not be able to visit us in the store? No problem! Simply browse our easy-to-use website, select the bale/s you would like to purchase, then call us to arrange payment and we will have them delivered directly to you. The courier delivery fee will have to be included in your payment.
If you have any general questions or queries about buying a bale, all you need to do is drop us a message and we will get back to you as soon as possible!
So, what happens after you have purchased your first bale and how do you make sure that you will be able to sell everything at a profit? Well, the first step after receiving your first, exciting bale of winter coats would be to unpack everything and decide on the price for each coat. We recommend selling them at a price that you know your potential customers will be able to afford and one where you know you will be making a profit. You will also be able to negotiate with shoppers and as long as you don't sell for less than your cost then you are not losing any money.
An interesting fact about our bales of winter coats is that each coat is from Europe and of very high quality. However, if you work out the price you pay for each coat (take the total price you paid for the bale and divide by the number of coats inside the bale), you will notice that you have snagged an excellent deal and that there is plenty of room for profit!
When pricing your coats, be sure to leave enough profit for yourself, as well as a little room to negotiate with customers, if they ask.
After pricing each coat, you need to decide who your customer base will be. This could be anything from your neighbors, people in your local community, folks you meet while traveling in a taxi, and even online.
Now is the perfect time to start selling coats as most people will be thinking about how they will keep themselves and their families warm this winter. With normal, retail prices being very high at the moment, most people will appreciate it if they can buy a well-priced coat from you that will not only keep them warm but also will not fall apart after a few months.
Advertising and word of mouth are very important when selling your bales of winter jackets. Remember: the more people who know about you and what you sell, the more customers you will get and the more successful your business will be!
Don’t be afraid to approach your neighbors, friends, and family to tell them about your new business and what you sell. Most people will be very interested and may ask to see the coats you sell. Often, this is a good way of making a sale.
Advertising your winter coats is also a great way of being very successful. Good examples of where you can advertise online include Facebook (on groups, in your news feed, etc), Instagram, Twitter, and in local directories. Try your best to take some good photos of your products with a camera or your phone. This will go a long way in marketing your business and letting people know what you do.
This is if you have access to the internet. WhatsApp and SMS are also great ways to keep your customers informed and to help you manage your customer database.
Once you have sold your first bale, you will be very happy with the profit you have made. This money could go towards living expenses and also towards another bale or two of coats. When your business starts to grow and you gain more customers, you might want to think of taking on someone to help you with your sales. To do this, you could offer them a commission amount for each coat sold, while still making a profit.
